The transmitted light (TL) in our automated Zeiss Imager Z1 microscope could
not start up. It is not due to blown bulb (12V, 100W), but to abnormal
circuit board (or something else) I guess.

The initial symptom was that the TL was, occasionally, not at ON status as
it is supposed to be after turning on Power Supply box. However, if we then
turned off the power supply and restarted it right away, the light would be
ON as usual most of the times. Curiously enough, the light problem always
occur (twice) after moving --we relocated the microscope twice (needing to
disconnect the microscope wire/parts for moving), which led me to wonder if
something "inside the microscope was not well connected. Yesterday this
light issue happen again but it could not be fired up using previous “trick”
(restarting the power supply).  However, in about half an hour, it suddenly
was ON during my touching the TL intensity knob. When hearing a couple of
click sound, I found the light reached to the maximum brightness and was not
respond to TL knob or computer software (bulb voltage) controls. Today, the
TL was completely died. Could the culprit be an electric component like
capacitor/transformer? Has anyone the similar experience with this
microscope? Thanks for your comments.
