Dear Confocal Microscopy listserv,

University of Miami is still looking for an imaging core manager -
ideally someone who can start quickly. The position is posted at

http://um.hodesiq.com/job_detail.asp?JobID=3538747

This is the microscope core I managed until I moved to Houston for a
research position (which I started yesterday). The Diabetes Research
Institute (DRI) is leading the search - the position is co-funded by the
Hussman Institute for Human Genomics, Interdisciplinary Stem Cell
Institute and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. You would get
to help a whole lot of users. I can't promise that you'll get to hang
with D. Wade and Lebron - that part of networking will be up to you.

If an exceptional non-Ph.D./postdoc level person is interested, the
position description could be tweaked.

Description:

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine-UHealth is home to
some of the brightest minds in the world. Our Faculty teach students who
represent the future of medicine. Our researchers are discovering
breakthrough patient treatments. As an academic medical center, we are
proud to serve South Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean. Our
physicians represent more than 100 specialties and subspecialties, and
have more than one million patient encounters each year.

The Diabetes Research Institute is seeking an Assistant Scientist
who will manage day-to-day operations of the Imaging Core facility
including technical personnel, scheduling/prioritizing projects and
consultation.  Supervise and train users to ensure proper instrument
utilization.  Ensure that the core operates under good laboratory standards.

Ph.D. with education in a biomedical field such as Cell Biology,
Anatomy, Pathology, Immunology or Genetics. One year of extensive
post-doctoral experience with microscopy and current imaging
applications, such as confocal microscopy, fluorescence microscopy,
laser scanning cytometry, laser capture micro-dissection and related
imaging software is required. Prior management experience of core
facilities is preferred. Any appropriate combination of education,
certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
