"Setting Up for Automated Microscopy"

Cameras, filters, shutters, motorized stages, and automated microscopes are state of the art for biological research. These tools allow capturing complex multidimensional data sets including multiple dyes, Z-stacks, time series, and many locations on a slide. However, configuring these acquisitions to run correctly involves handling many pieces of hardware from multiple manufacturers. Controlling this hardware and sequencing it correctly requires proper configuration. Attendees to this live web-based seminar will learn how to set Image-Pro to control multiple pieces of hardware, starting from having no hardware installed and ending with multidimensional image acquisition.

Topics covered:

  • Camera installation
  • Configuring an automated microscope stand, additional stages and filter wheels
  • Image and system calibration
  • Multidimensional acquisition
  • The latest improvements in Advanced Fluorescence Acquisition (AFA), the Image-Pro Plus multidimensional acquisition module.

"Working with Digital and Analog Signals in Image-Pro"

In the past, researchers had to piece together various devices for output control and analog acquisition in their experiments. Now, with solutions like Media Cybernetics’ IO-Pro, digital and analog devices are integrated easily within Image-Pro Plus.

Using IO-Pro and Image-Pro Plus, attendees will learn how to control:

  • Analog and digital outputs for external equipment control
  • Analog inputs for measuring the status of experimental variables such as temperature and fluid flow
  • Digital inputs for controlling sample triggers, such as foot pedals

Subjects include:

  • Overview of IO-Pro boards
  • Configuration settings
  • Working with IO-Pro macros in the capture dialog
