The Solent CAL3300 temperature controller is no longer heating up the incubator and have just found out the Solent Scientific ceased training at the end of 2019. Therefore, I wondered if anyone has an old heater and controller they are no longer using that we could buy or swap. many thanks Kevin Microscopy and Histology Core Facility The School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, Institute of Medical Sciences University of Aberdeen Foresterhill Aberdeen AB25 2ZD UK |

However, if your activity does not require multi-well plate imaging and you are doing single well time-lapse, I invite you to review the specialized products and technologies from Bioptechs.com <http://bioptechs.com/>. There you will find products that provide the environmental control you need (CO2 if necessary, RT to 37° in about 2 minutes and steady thereafter), and compatibility with all modes of microscopy without encasing the microscope. BTW, I especially don’t like the performance of PID controls for cell culture. They tend to over and under shoot frequently, and are very slow to stabilize. If you tell me what your needs are, off list, I can tell you what we can do to address them. Is the display on the controller operational, that is, is a temperature being read at all? If you hold the temperature sensor with your fingers, does the temperature increase? Is the fan on the heat source running but only cool/RT air coming through? In my customer’s case, the controller was responsive, the temperature indicator did rise when I held the sensor, and only cool air was coming through. Based on this, I suggested they take the heater to their internal electrical/machine shop and have the techs in there have a look at it. They did this and it ended up being a simple fix. I’m not sure what they did, but you should consider taking the unit to your university electrical shop for a look. If you want more specific details I can put you in touch with my customer at the University of British Columbia, feel free to email me off-list at [hidden email]. Cheers Farid. I have created page on the MRC LMCB Light Microscopy wiki with links to a troubleshooting PDF and a couple of photos that hopefully will be useful for you and any other people having problems with these heaters. Here's the link: https://wiki.ucl.ac.uk/display/LMCBLMic/Solent+Scientific+Incubators Cheers, Andrew. |
