Hi.   The sixth cohort of the Merritt Microscopy Students are done with their first semester of training and they would love to be your intern!  They already know a lot about the theory and practice of optical microscopy, especially fluorescence, and digital image acquisition and processing, not to mention troubleshooting finicky scopes while juggling overlapping project deadlines.   They are a very intelligent, enthusiastic, nice group of folks, with backgrounds in photography, programming, phlebotomy, entemology, museum crafts, and more.  Some of them already have extensive lab skills and are in the program to acquire specialized skills.   Many of them are headed towards grad school.

They are available to work all summer and even into the fall and spring (if you wish), mostly part-time.  We prefer that you offer them some funding if you can, but a lot of them are also able to volunteer.  They are happy to help you with grunt work, as long as they get some exposure to real life science.  It's a great way to make sure your scopes are all well taken care of, record psfs, get that back burner project up and running, try a few risky experiments...  There's nothing like the enthusiasm and energy of the MMP students!  Also, this is your chance to train the next generation of microscopists!

Gisele Giorgi
