Hi all,

Slightly off topic, but we are stuck with a problem and are running out of places to turn to.

We have a 5 year old Molecular Devices ImageXpress Micro XLS system with environmental control for HTS.
We have been having a peculiar error on the Y drive of the stage where the Y drive controller fails but only when the system is warmed up to 37 deg C. At Room temp (kept at 25 Deg C), the system works perfectly fine. When the error occurred at 37 deg C, allowing the system to cool also returned the system to its previous working state.

We’ve worked with the service engineer to try and isolate the problem. We have eliminated loose wiring or stage blocks etc. Indeed, he was able to rewire the X and Y drivers such that the error reliably occurs on the X drive rather than the Y drive at 37 degrees C. This suggested a fault with the electronics of the drives. But when we switched to a new board, we (disappointingly) found the same error. Now we are wondering if the problem is with the boards themselves…?

Has anyone else encountered any similar problems with any Molecular Devices systems at 37 deg C?

Since this is off topic for the confocal list server, please feel free to contact me independently if you have any info. I’m also happy to provide more details of this vexing problem.

Thank you for your time.
Cheers

Yours sincerely,
