Hi All,

We lost the manual for our upright stand long ago.

Does anyone know if there is a way to either lock the focus knob or increase the tension?

We're experiencing z drift using a fixed stage.

Thanks

Best,

Gary

How old is the scope?
Can you watch the focus knob turn on its own?
Does it drift after an upward then downward movement or after an upward movement?
I ask because sometimes on older scopes the lubricants on the focus rails gets old and sticky.
Then the weight of the mechanism continues to sag independent of the focus knob position until it comes to rest on the gear play.

Hi Dan,

Thanks.

Scope's about 8 yo.

Drifting 10's of um/hr.  Haven't looked at the focus knob during this time, but will I see it move in this range?

One direction only.

Feedback greatly appreciated.

The Z1 focus drive uses encoder motors to drive the nosepiece so adjusting the tension on the mechanical knob won't have an effect on nosepiece stability unless it gets bumped or hit.

You can disable the motors completely from the TFT display.  Should be an on/off toggle along the right side of the display called 'Motors'.
