Dear Core Directors and Managers,

You are invited to attend the third annual Northeast Regional Life Sciences
Core Directors (NERLSCD) meeting, October 22-24, 2008, at the Sheraton Hotel
and Conference Center near the University of Vermont campus in Burlington,
VT. This will be a networking meeting for core directors and managers in the
Northeast. The conference will provide an opportunity for core facility
directors and managers to meet colleagues, to share technical advice, and to
discuss the challenges and results of implementing shared research resources
and technologies.

There will be organized tours through several core facilities at the
University of Vermont in the afternoon and an evening reception on
Wednesday, Oct. 22nd, followed by a two day meeting from Thursday to Friday.
The meeting will include plenary presentations of general interest to all
core directors, a poster session (the posters will describe the activities
and services provided by the core facilities of the participants), and
discussion sessions, each lead by a panel of experts, in which topics of
interest will be discussed in a workshop setting among core directors and
managers offering similar services.
There will be breakout sessions on DNA Sequencing, Genotyping, Microarrays,
Real-Time qPCR, Proteomics, Protein Expression and Characterization, Flow
Cytometry, Optical Imaging, Transgenics, Stem Cells, and
Bioinformatics/Computational Biology.

The meeting will include a poster session. All attendees are encouraged to
submit a poster abstract. The purpose of this session is to enable core
facility directors to present posters describing the activities and services
their individual cores provide and to view what core services are available
at neighboring institutions.

The poster abstract submission deadline is September 26, 2008.
Abstracts should be submitted after registering for the meeting. In addition
to the poster abstract, participants are encouraged to submit their full
poster presentation in pdf format. Poster presentations will be made
available on a website restricted to meeting participants. Submission of the
poster pdf files does not need to be done at the same time as submission of
poster abstracts. The deadline for submission of poster pdf files is October
8, 2008.
The meeting registration deadline is September 26, 2008. Registration to
this meeting WILL BE LIMITED so please register early.
