That function is available in Photoshop using History Log, and it's also available in Image Pro Plus. Do any of the imaging packages for the microscope manufacturers provide this, or any other software from other companies? Perhaps other archiving/tracking functions are available? For the purpose of documenting/archiving/reusing I personally like Matlab which records all your actions and keeps track of all parameters and data arrays (images, etc). Some general programming skills are required but you can convienently reuse/modify all or part of your actions and/or images. Interactive actions may not be recorded in details so it may be useful to run in parallel other software that captures PC screen to a movie. If acquired by MetaMorph, includes whatever camera info (exposure time, binning, ...) and microscope settings that MetaMorph knows. Available in Edit menu -> Image info (including logging the text to the data log file or Excel by DDE). Goes into the file if saved as TIFF or STK (not if bmp). Unfortunately, it tends not to retain the values for some operations, but just the process sequence. The file can then be saved as a text. Joel Joel B. The Macro language is Python based.
