Friends
probably you have your own channel. However, I found useful this link (in italian - understandable) to help about the Earthquake.

Colleagues,

I would like to bring the following to your attention:

Establishment of a Medical Discovery Team (MDT)
Imaging across Multiple Scales of Neuronal Organization:
Circuit-Based Approaches to Brain Function

The University of Minnesota (UMN) is launching a major initiative to establish a Medical
Discovery Team (MDT) composed of several faculty members at Assistant (tenure track), or
tenured Associate or Full Professor level, focused on development and application of cutting
edge, innovative technologies, such as in-vivo multiphoton based microscopy, for imaging
neuronal activity and dynamics. The ultimate goal is to establish an MDT of approximately four
to six faculty members whose effort will also complement and exploit the existing strength in
magnetic resonance based imaging at UMN so as to develop a comprehensive neuroimaging
program that can provide circuit level information from synapses and single cells to the whole
brain. The State of Minnesota has appropriated significant funds over the next eight to ten years
for the University of Minnesota Medical School to create a world-class program in this area.
Within the University of Minnesota, this Medical School Discovery Team will have direct
collaboration opportunities with numerous individuals and departments including but not
restricted to Neuroscience, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical / Computer
Engineering, Psychology, Psychiatry, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and the Center for Magnetic
Resonance Research (CMRR).
The new faculty members will be able to leverage the University of Minnesota’s current faculty
and research strengths in imaging, including CMRR and the University Imaging Centers (which
is a Nikon Center of Excellence). The program will be housed within the Biomedical Discovery
District at the University of Minnesota.
Qualifications
The members of the Medical Discovery Team (Imaging across Multiple Scales of Neuronal
Organization: Circuit-Based Approaches to Brain Function) will be appointed at the level of Full,
or Associate Professor with tenure or Assistant professor (tenure track) within the Medical
School; appointment at the level of Assistant professor with early decision on tenure will also be
considered for candidates who already hold Assistant professor appointments but not long
enough to have been considered for tenure. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. and/or
M.D. and be tasked to build a strong research program using state-of-the-art optical imaging
and other relevant techniques applied to experimental model systems of health, injury, and
disease in the central nervous system. Applicants should also demonstrate notable scientific
contributions and sustained extramural support if applying for Associate or Full professor level.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or be able to secure permanent residence status. The starting
date is flexible, with the appointment available immediately. The University of Minnesota is
committed to diversifying its faculty and encourages applications from women and minorities.
Review of applications will begin in October 2016 and continue until the positions are filled.
Applicants should include a curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research interests containing
future plans. Electronic versions should be emailed to Michael McDaniel at
([hidden email]). Applicants also need to complete the online application. This may be
found at http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/employment/index.html.

Cheers,
Mark
