Has anyone used these dyes?  How specific are they for DNA?  Molecular
probes makes them sound quite interesting for labeling nuclei:

But there is very little information on them.  I am interested in
alternatives to acridine orange for live cell imaging that are a little
more blue shifted.  Right now I am using DAPI which works well, but the
diffusion time is a bit slow in thick tissues relative to acridine orange
and its a bit less DNA specific at higher concentrations. An acridine
variant that kept the high specificity and rapid diffusion of AO but was a
little blue shifted would be perfect.
