extinction coefficients

Search the CONFOCAL archive at
http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal

Does anyone know if there is (and where I can find) a comprehensive list
of extinction coefficients for fluorescent compounds.

At the moment I am looking for the extinction coefficient of DEAC -
dimethylaminocoumarin dye.

Re: extinction coefficients

Search the CONFOCAL archive at http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal Hi Randy,

a list of extinction coefficients is at

McNamara 2007 Fluorophore Data Tables

at http://home.earthlink.net/~pubspectra/

Use Excel's search command (try full name, if that does not work, try DEAC, or coumarin ... I found the E.c.'s below by searching for coumarin). I've pasted a subset below.

Pacific Blue    3-carboxy-6,8-difluoro-7-hydroxycoumarin                                  29,500 (QY = 0.75)
Alexa Fluor 350 (Alexa350)  7-Amino-4-methyl-6-sulfocoumarin-3-acetic acid    15,500
AMCA and AMCA-X (Coumarin)                                                                    19,000
7-methoxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid                                                            26,000
7-diethylaminocoumarin-3-carboxylic acid                                               56,000  = DEAC (though you wrote dimethyl [DMAC?], not diethyl [DEAC])
D-AMCA                                                                                                     56,000
Hydroxy coumarin (HYCO)                                                                           36,000
7-amino-4-methylcoumarin  (row 4382)                                                          18,000 (QY = 0.18) = DAMC?
6-chloro-7-hydroxy-coumarin-3-carbamide (row 4552)                                      44,000 (QY = 0.93)

Anyone looking for fluorescent protein data can find a few in the Excel sheet at top, more in the   Data file at
