From the point of view of a core facility where many of our users cannot tolerate minor changes here and there much less learning multiple softwares, a single platform is a great selling point. However, as Zeiss switches from Zen Black to Zen Blue and deploys on multiple platforms, we've noticed inconsistencies that, in some cases, confuse our facility users or change behavior of or eliminates functionality that we've had for years. If you are buying a Zeiss system, I highly recommend testing the exact system with the exact version of software that you would be purchasing. Do not assume that if you tested a Zeiss 780 or have had a 700 for years that a new system will behave the same. Also, don't be surprised if features (including batch processing to export TIFs, fusing tiles, etc) you have on your widefield system behave differently than the ones on the lightsheet, 880, 700, 800, AxioZoom, etc. Regards, Michael ========================================================================= Michael Cammer, Microscopy Core & Skirball Institute, NYU Langone Medical Center Cell: 914-309-3270 Office: Skirball 2nd Floor main office, back right http://ocs.med.nyu.edu/microscopy & http://microscopynotes.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ This email message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain information that is proprietary, confidential, and exempt from disclosure under applicable law. However, compared to olden times when we were running our widefield systems on AxioVision and our Confocal systems on AIM, the consistencies between Blue/Black are a vast improvement and are getting better and more inclusive all the time. Users; Do not think of ZEN Blue and Black as the same software but instead as mature versions of AxioVision and AIM and you will not be confused. The functionalities of the two platforms are very different as are the widefield and Confocal systems in operation.
