This is a continuation of "Joystick stopped working (LSM710)" issue. I have a new development now. Joystick wasn't working at all before. After replacing the joystick as some people suggested, the joystick works some times, but not all the time. If it's not working, I restart the instrument system, which usually helps. Once it works, it will keep working until I shutdown the instrument system. Also, sometimes I get it to work by power-cycling MCU2008 alone, but this trick doesn't work all the time. I'm wondering what is causing this problem. I saw a flashing red light in the MCU2008 box when I peek from the right side. Is this normal? Or should I see a green LED light? Any suggestions and information are welcome. Thank you.

I've got a new suggestion from vendor's service engineer. I disconnected a CAN cable from MCU2008, and the joystick worked consistently. So the joystick problem is apparently related to the CAN connection. I would greatly appreciate if you have any suggestion to make the joystick work with the CAN cable connected.

I swapped the incubator's CAN cable with the MCU2008's. The joystick worked consistently with the CAN cable connected. It seems the CAN cable was causing the problem. I had Zeiss order new CAN cables. By the way, when you look at the MCU2008 when the microscope is on and working, do you see flashing red light inside the box? I wonder what that means. Do you know what I'm talking about? The joystick uses one CAN port on the back of the MCU2008, and the other CAN port is open. Is that why?
