Hi Matthew-
Electroporation of chick embryos is tricky but doable and many labs get it going. For an example of this type of experiment, there are some useful references:
PMID: 16312219
and a more recent one:
PMID: 18383543
(sorry, these are subscription access only, so am including PubMed IDs as opposed direct links-- go open access!)
These discuss two different ways of introducing fluorophores into sections-- there are many more.
We've recently been working with chick embryo sections electroporated with various FP fusions and directly following cell division and differentitation:

If you want any help with these methods, just contact me directly.
Cheers,
Jason

hello. i'm trying to get high detail live confocal images of cross sections
of chicken embryos. i've been adding a gfp vector, but the transfection
method is giving me a hard time. i was hoping someone might have
suggestions for alternatives. general cell morphology is good enough.
thank you, matthew
