To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Dear List, Our 405nm violet diode laser (iFlex2000-P-X-405-X-10-N from PointSource Ltd., now Qioptics) attached to a Zeiss LSM510-Meta has died. I wanted to replace the diode, but there is a striking delivery bottleneck (at least here in Austria) in the range of 3 months. Has anyone of you experience in setting up a 405nm diode pumped solid state laser from a different company: any suggestions welcome I guess the major point is geometric assembly on the bench - our 405nm is now free-space coupled to the fiber. So height and incident angle of the beam need fine adjustment!? Thx for any help, Josef |

The laser has to be mounted with the correct polarization. Alignment into the fiber is difficult at first, if you haven't done it before, but is doable. -Michael C. -----Original Message----- From: Confocal Microscopy List [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Josef Gotzmann Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2010 9:19 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: lsm510meta - 405nm diode replacement ***** To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Dear List, Our 405nm violet diode laser (iFlex2000-P-X-405-X-10-N from PointSource Ltd., now Qioptics) attached to a Zeiss LSM510-Meta has died. To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** We had a Melles Griot 638 die on one of our microscopes (a couple months after the warranty expired I might add) and a replacement wasn't available. I went with a company called Pavilion Integration Corporation; they build semi-custom laser diode and diode pumped systems at quite reasonable prices. The specs on my new laser from Pavilion are about a factor of 10 better than the original in terms of noise as well. You might want to give them a try. http://www.pavilionintegration.com/ (no commercial interest) Craig On Wed, Nov 10, 2010 at 7:23 AM, Cammer, Michael <[hidden email] > wrote: > ***** > To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: > http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy > ***** > > I bet any 405 laser with a decent beam profile would work.
