The Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin-Buch is looking for one

 

imaging specialist/team member for microscopy core facility

 

We are offering a position in the newly established, excellently equipped fluorescence microscopy core facility of the MDC hosting several confocal microscopes (Zeiss/Leica), 2-photon microscopes (Zeiss/LaVision), a TIRF microscope (Olympus), a laser micro-dissection microscope (Zeiss P.A.L.M.) and a number of image analysis workstations (i.e. Imaris/Volocity).

 

Job Description:

Duties include routine maintenance of the facility infrastructure, user training and support, trouble shooting system problems, assisting users with sample preparation and data processing, development of training/teaching tutorials.

We are seeking a highly motivated person who will work together with scientists in the field of cell-, neuro- and developmental biology using a broad range of light microscope techniques and image analysis questions.

Project-based research is possible.

Experience:

Technician or Master degree (MSc) in Biology, Life science, Physics, Optics or related fields.
Hands-on experience with light and fluorescence microscopy and image analysis, good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are required.
Experience with confocal microscopy, TIRF microscopy, 2-photon microscopy, live cell imaging, laser micro-dissection or a range of advanced image analysis software would be an asset, skills in optical instrumentation or programming are appreciated.
The applicant will need to develop a detailed understanding of the available microscopes and image analysis tools.

 

The full position is immediately available, initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is dependent on qualification.
