Job overview:
Based in West London, the
Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) is an Institute of the Medical Research Council
and an academic division of the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.
The CSC has an international reputation and its interdisciplinary research and
training programmes in cell biology, genomics, and biological and clinical
imaging, address key questions underpinning human health and disease.
Research in the CSC covers a wide range of subjects from the subcellular
localization of proteins to the development of entire organisms and is
supported by a well equipped and expanding light microscopy
facility which comprises four confocal microscopes, Deltavision and
spinning-disk systems for life cell imaging and various widefield fluorescence
instruments.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual providing training and
technical support for a large number of users, routine maintenance and
troubleshooting on the different imaging systems as well as direct
participation in research projects.
The successful candidate will report to the head of the facility and should
have a science degree in a relevant area with significant research experience
using light microscopical techniques including fluorescence confocal microscopy. A good understanding of all aspects of
digital imaging from acquisition to image processing and analysis is desirable.
Advanced computer skills are essential.
Applicants should be interested in developing and applying new imaging
techniques, possess excellent written and oral communication skills to interact
effectively with facility users and have the ability to work in a team as well
as independently.
