Dear all,
 
The Imaging Facility of the Istituto Nazionale Genetica Molecolare "Romeo ed Enrica Invernizzi" (INGM) is looking  to fill immediately a One-year Position for a microscopy specialist

The newly Imaging Facility at INGM provides access to light microscopes for scientists within the Institute. At the present time the Facility is equipped with a laser scanner confocal, a variety of light widefield microscopes and a specific widefield epifluorescence and transmission microscope fully automated which enables multi-point and tile-scan image acquisition on live and fixed samples.
 
Primary responsibilities:
 
The candidate should be able to respond to the basic services offered by the INGM Imaging Facility to the users, including:
 
- maintain the functionality of Facility instrumentation
- train scientists on basic microscopy techniques including confocal and multidimensional high-content screening experiments
 
- give advice on sample preparation, experiment design and image analysis
 
-collaborate with internal researcher for the development of dedicated time lapse experiment on live samples as well as on specific applications (e.g. RNA, DNA FISH on a variety of samples, FRET, Optogenetic)
 
 
Required qualification:
 
The applicant should have a science degree in a relevant subject, with significant years research experience or a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject, and is expected to have strong practical background in light microscopy connected to biological questions. Knowledge in image processing and live time-lapse techniques are an asset.
 
The applicant must have a strong wish to work in a service-oriented context, possess excellent English written and oral communication skills, be comfortable working independently, communicate effectively with service users to understand their microscopy needs and demonstrate effective troubleshooting skills.
