If I remember correctly from my BioRad days, this is due to the Firewire connection not working. Check the Firewire cable and also shut down and restart everything.

Hello
I am using a Bio-rad Laser confocal microscope. Now when I run the
lasersharp 2000 program there is message coming. the message is - papi
initialization failed restart the ICU - and when we click on OK button the
program closing automatically.
Please give me a solution for this
