non-descanned detectors

Dear all,
we are about to buy a new confocal/two-photon microscope. We are in the
middle of an EU tender and this implies I have yet to decide which system we'll
purchase.

I will install detectors for TCSPC on the non-descanned ouput port of the
future system and I will need to place some optics between the microscope
and detector.

Do you have any bad experience (eg, constrains dictated by the design of the
microscope) with a particular microscope among the most recent laser
scanning systems on the market or even in more general terms?

Kind regards,

Alessandro

Re: non-descanned detectors

Hi Alessandro

We went through the same process last year: choosing a confocal / 2P / FLIM.
We eventually bought the Zeiss LSM710-NLO which we are very happy with so
far although the 2P side has not been extensively used yet. We opted for
FLIM to be placed on an inverted system instead since this suits our
applications better (live cell imaging on glass for FLIM, thick samples
without coverslip for 2P).

The La Vision system was a very serious competitor both for FLIM and the 2P
but as far as I can tell they cannot offer a confocal combined with the 2P.

Hope that helps.

Med vänlig hälsning / Best regards

Sylvie

SV: non-descanned detectors

Hi Alessandro and Hi Sylvie

Just for the record, and of course with "a touch" of commercial interest, we
do now provide 1P, also in combination with 2P. As I'm sure you understand,
I did not want to let the comment pass without a little reply, in this most
dignified assembly.

Sylvie, you were exposed to a dreadful demo of our standalone 1P (sorry - in
many ways - for the bad planning), but I can assure you that we've used it
many times since at FLIM workshops. ;-)

We have a basic 1P module, without fancy settings. I would say our advantage
here is good (but simple) quality at low cost.

But, as you mentioned, our strength lies in 2P: Single beam, Multi-beam
systems, fast FLIM, Multi-TiSa setups, with or without OPO, adaptive optics,
HiRes detector, UV2P, advanced FRAP functions etc.

Best regards
Erik from LVBT
