Dear List Members--

The Confocal Listserv has existed for almost 30 years now and has
succeeded in fostering a wonderful sense of community among its
members.  It's also offered an atmosphere unusually open to providing
help--and sometimes criticism--to each other.  In that spirit, I ask
that you please offer any *personal *criticisms in a private email to
that person, rather than in something shared with the group.  I ask this
in part based on my own personal experiences: in the early days of the
List, I once spouted off an opinion in sufficiently strong terms that I
expect I could've caused an aneurysm in the person to whom it was
addressed.  In my case, I was able to apologize to the person I offended
after they privately contacted me and let me know how I sounded.

The Confocal Listserv is a work-in-progress and we all benefit from the
knowledge we share.  I want to thank you all for contributing to it and
helping make it the wonderful resource that it is.
