Position open for Imaging Specialist
The candidate will manage the operation and maintenance of a
two-photon microscope facility that is multi-user and
interdisciplinary. This specialized facility is primarily for the
generation of 3D renderings of excised tissue or time resolved images
of cell movement in vivo. This facility will be used by a dynamic
research community at the Yale University School of Medicine well
known for cutting edge experimentation in the Life Sciences.
Essential duties:
operation and maintenance of
microscopy equipment
oversee the day-to-day running of the
facility
anesthesia and surgical preparation of
small animals for intravital imaging
provide technical guidance to
investigators on experimental design
provide assistance in the analysis of
data obtained in the facility.
The individual in this position will maintain an active research
agenda which will complement or add to lines of investigation within
the facilities. This will involve animal care, preparation of cell
suspensions, and the injection of cells and/or fluorescent
reagents.
Education and experience:
A Master's or Ph.D. in a scientific
discipline or a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
Experience with laser scanning microscopy, live cell imaging or
the preparation of animals for intravital imaging is desirable, but
not required. The applicant should enjoy working closely with
researchers with diverse interests and goals.
