The objective I used is the 60x water UPLASAPO 1.2 NA which is what I
would consider to be one of their high end objectives for the confocal.
That's why I was a little surprised by the extend of the shift.

Also what software are you using to do a good Z registration ?  We have
imaris and I found imaris unable to do subpixel registration (At my
previous place I was using Slidebook to do subpixel registration).
