Hi, good afternoon.

We would want to couple an ORCA-Flash 4.0 LT sCMOS camera to a lateral port
of an old Axiovert 200M Zeiss microscope. The dimensions of the chip is
above 1” (13.312 mm x 13.312 mm). In this link you will find the chip
specifications:
http://www2.cbm.uam.es/~smoc/Temp/ORCA-Flash4.0%20LT_sCMOS.pdf

Zeiss has told us:

““The optimal adapter would be the 1x adapter 60C. With this adapter the
customer gets 18 mm diagonal from the intermediate image (which has a
diameter of 23 mm). Any remaining  shading after proper setting of the
microscope (Koehler) should be corrected with  a shading correction function
of the software.

These old 60 adapters insert into the lightpath diameter and therefore take
away some light. This is one of the reasons for a shading. Therefore the 60N
adapters with the cap screw which leaves the entire lightpath open were
introduced more than 10 years ago for the new microscope generation.
Unfortunately they cannot be attached to Axiovert 200.”

Though they advise to use his 1x adapter, my impression is that it is not
going to be enough and we will have to use Shading correction anyway. We
believe that 1.2x adapter might be enough but we have been offered until
1,6x adapter from Best Scientific Couplers
(https://www.bestscientificcouplers.com). Our Zeiss objectives have a Field
of View of 25 mm.

I would appreciate a lot your advises, ideas, impressions… whatever. J Do
you think that the 1,2x adapter could be enough? Disadvantages of using 1,6x
adapters in this case?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,
