Greetings, We're in the process of procuring a new microscope system and I wanted to ask this list about cameras. We currently use andor ixon du-897 cameras, but have seen that there is a bigger chip versions of this camera, and that hamamatsu also have a big chip emccd, and apparently roper has the new prime95B which they claim can be used for single molecule work. I was wondering if anyone has any experience doing single molecule imaging with cameras other than our andor 897's. While on paper the big-chip versions seem to be just as good, I'd like to know first hand experience of people using them in the field...
Also interested to know if there are major differences between the andor and hamamatsu cameras. I noticed that the big chip emccds have 13um pixels as opposed to the 16um of the 512x512 versions which i guess would be important when imaging single molecule fluorescence. Anyone with any experience with these cameras, your opinions would be greatly appreciated...
thanks,
-Jeff
