John,

what exactly do you mean by spot scanning? Scanning with a spot
(excitation volume) is what a confocal does anyway.

If you mean parking the beam on a specific spot (i.e. *not* scanning),
you can do that. We use that when measuring the laser power. Therefore
the procedure is explained in the respective protocol on our web site:
