Dear microscopists,
We are currently using Zeiss Immersol W immersion oil as a dielectric blocking layer in one of our experiments. Since this version of the oil has been replaced by the Immersol W (2010) version, probably around 2010 (;-)), we tried using this ’new’ version of the oil without much success, sadly. I spoke with a sales representative from Zeiss, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to obtain the old formulation of the oil anymore.
If someone in the Bay Area still has some of the original Immersol W left (needn’t be a full bottle) and wouldn’t mind trading it in for the W (2010) version, I would appreciate if a trade could be initiated. I also heard that Zeiss may not actually be the manufacturer of the oil, and that maybe Cargille is producing it for them. If anybody has deeper insights and might even know the equivalent Cargille product number, that would be very valuable.
Regards,
Carsten
