Good morning,
I don't know if this will help but writing to you just in case the problem is less serious than you think.
We have a Zeiss LSM 710. After we moved to Windows 7 some years ago, we had to change the order in which we turned things on. If we turn on the RTC before the PC, we get the same error. Using the Reset button doesn't work, we just have to turn off the RTC, exit ZEN, restart the RTC and wait for the start up sounds Then restart ZEN and all is OK.
We changed our practice to turning on the RTC after the PC is on and after we have logged on. This solved the problem.
Also our system has a back up copy of the system on a USB that is stored inside the PC. I think this is standard for Zeiss so you should also have this.
Kind regards,
Jacqui

We have a 2008 model Axioimager, coupled to an LSM5 exciter, used mainly for polarization studies on liquid crystals. Recently, the Zen software failed to launch with "fail to connect to RTC..." message. Resetting did not work. On the monitor, however, 'Real time connection connected..' message appears. It is suspected that the IDE, transcend 128 MB flash module, used to boot may have been corrupted. If a new IDE flash module is purchased, the program data will have to be written into it. Is there a way of getting the data? Since the model is out of service, local Zeiss rep has expressed inability to extend technical support. It seems such a pity that for the sake of the IDE, the instrument should remain defunct. We would be indebted for any suggestions to bring the confocal onroad.
