update on Yale Microscopy Workshop

Search the CONFOCAL archive at http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal update on Yale Microscopy Workshop
Hello fellow microscopy enthusiasts,

We'd like to provide an update on important additions and some changes to the Yale Microscopy Workshop that will be held June 10 - 12th, 2008 in New Haven, CT

Please visit the website for the complete symposium & demonstration schedule, revised equipment list and free online registration http://microscopy.med.yale.edu

1. Many demonstrations on specific techniques or applications will now be offered, including FLIM, laser microdissection, TIRF, structured illumination and live cell imaging.

2. Although the Volocity representative is no longer able to attend, this software will still be available for use. However, the post-acquisition analysis practical that was originally scheduled for Tuesday the 11th at 4:00 is now cancelled. Please note that an Imaris representative will offer their software for rendering and deconvolution all day, every day.

3. The Zeiss LSM 710 confocal will not be equipped with a two-photon laser as originally hoped, but will be operational in every other regard as a spectral confocal. Two other two-photon systems, made by LaVision and Prairie Technologies, remain available for use.

4. Although the classes and hands-on practical sessions are now full, there will be unfettered access to fully functional equipment throughout the day outside of class time periods to anyone who registers.

One hour reservations can be made for many of the instruments after registration. Please view this as an opportunity to perform a "surgical strike" exploration of new instrumentation without any financial or time commitments. Slides and live cell samples will be available for use but feel free to bring your own samples. Individuals interested in bringing their own samples should contact:
