We have a current need for one here and I am putting in a proposal for funding. It would be great if anyone out there who has purchased an upright multiphoton system in the last few years could get in touch. I am particularly interested in feedback regarding the hardware chosen, the installation process, laser stability and how it copes in a muti user environment. Look forward to hearing a few responses ! Thanks Peter Owens Galway , Ireland |

Johannes Helm (2012), Recommendations for the design and the installation of large laser scanning microscopy systems, Proc. SPIE, 8226, 82262M-1 - 82262M-7 I hope this will be to some help. Best wishes, Johannes On 2017-02-07 12:57, Owens, Peter wrote: > ***** > To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: > http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy > Post images on http://www.imgur.com and include the link in your > posting. > ***** > > Dear List, > > I am looking for your advice on choosing an upright multiphoton > system. With a complex instrument, good service, and a good relationship with the service engineers, are essential. This can vary quite widely worldwide (depending on whether there are local representatives in your town or in the country) and can change over time. In my opinion, it’s worth sacrificing a bit of a technical edge for reliable service, which also means the system is reliable for a multi-user environment. And a second consideration is what sort of whole-system maintenance contract you can negotiate, these are substantial for MP systems, but very useful if you can get a 5-year complete extended warranty – covers regular service visits and replacement of any components. cheers, Rosemary Dr Rosemary White CSIRO Black Mountain GPO Box 1700 Canberra, ACT 2601 Australia Adjunct Prof, EH Graham Centre, CSU & Research School of Biology, ANU T 61 2 6246 5475 E [hidden email] On 7/2/17, 10:57 pm, "Confocal Microscopy List on behalf of Owens, Peter" <[hidden email] on behalf of [hidden email]> wrote: ***** To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy Post images on http://www.imgur.com and include the link in your posting. ***** Dear List, I am looking for your advice on choosing an upright multiphoton system. Unless you are fairly optomechanically inclined, good local support will be very important to the long-term use of your equipment. I have fixed problems around our institute that rendered entire systems inoperable, yet were relatively minor to fix (stuck shutters, dislodged filters, etc). However, I only knew to look for these simple problems while troubleshooting due to experience. If your local support is good, your sales and service reps will be good at field repairs. If not, you will spend considerable time shipping your system back to the manufacturer.
