You folks were very helpful when I asked where I can buy a used optical
table. Now I need help finding a used or refurbished tai-sapphire laser.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Paul

Dear Paul,

some years ago, we bought a second hand Chameleon - first generation -
from Coherent (resp. their local rep), Including refurbished diodes and
one year warranty. It was a good deal - certainly not the cheapest - but
it's still - and hopefully will be so for a long time - in use on a very
regular basis and we've logged quite a number of hours on it.

It was important for us to get it from Coherent in order to have the
warranty and service on it. Spectra Physics, I suppose, also would offer
you a second hand laser if you asked for one and they would have one
available.

Second hand lasers are available if a group somewhere has an old style
instrument and got the funding for a new instrument. Then, sometimes, the
old laser is returned to the producer as a part of the deal.

Best,
Johannes

Hi Paul, just to add to this note; we received a refurbished Chameleon 210 from Coherent as a warranty replacement unit. The refurbished unit has operated fine for a significant number of head hours.

Johannes,

Thank you for the advice. I am talking to Coherent and Spectraphysics to see
if they have a refurbished or demo laser. I have heard of a few used lasers.
I will follow up on them.

Thanks!

Paul
