I note that one condition is to use the condenser at a low NA setting, compared to the NA of the objective lens. IATIA has been part of Ultima Capital Investments Pty Ltd for years. http://www.ultimacapital.net/iatiaimaging/about_us1.htm The IATIA/Ultima has been inside the GE IN Cell 1000 http://www.ultimacapital.net/iatiaimaging/product_applications.htm and possibly later models (maybe 2200, 6000) as the (synthetic) DIC and phase contrast. From my extremely limited experience with the IN Cell (Applied Precision/GE bus visited parked outside our building in Miami for a day or two several years ago), the user could choose between (synthetic) DIC or Phase contrast images, but could not readily obtain the QPm data ... even though that would be much more useful in my opinion than pseudo-DIC or pseudo-phase. Several other groups have "done" QPm, such as Gabriel Popescu (UIUC), the late Michael Feld (popescu is a spin-off).
