To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Dear confocal listserv, where can I buy an adapter for an Olympus metallurgical objective lens on a Leica DM series microscope? More generally, does a company (website) have adapters to put current (infinity series) objective lenses of each manufacturer onto lens turrets of the other manufacturers? (with "reasonable' image quality). thanks in advance, George |

Thorlabs does a pretty good job of stocking various adaptors making it possible to pretty much connect anything these days. There's a nice table of possible combinations on this page: http://www.thorlabs.com/NewGroupPage9.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=1524 When you use adaptors like these with objectives, sometimes you add a bit of extra height necessitating that the stage be raised by a corresponding amount with some spacers. And of course, the magnification that you end up with on the detector side may not be the same anymore, depending on the microscope and objective brands you're working with. It is also possible that some chromatic aberrations might be introduced, but you can check for that using the standard methods (fluorescent beads, etc.). I'm sure you're aware of all this, I just mention it for other readers who might be interested as well. If that's not right, you might have luck with a SM1A25 and a SM1A3 in series.
