Uploading and editing the metadata is relatively painless - it only allows you to upload a limited number of file formats as the primary deposition, but also allows supplimentary files as well, where you can put the original 3D CAD files (like freeCAD) to allow others to tweak and improve / customise. Then COVID happened. The agreement was sent to the NIH 3D Print Exchange organizers but I have not received any response after numerous emails. My colleagues at NIH said I should keep trying to reach out to them. During the M&M meeting in August we had a session dedicated to 3D Microscopy that had a very nice turn out with Kevin Eliceiri and Jeffrey Kuhn presenting excellent talks. We want to continue to get the momentum going and welcome anyone who wants to help with moving the collection forward by either contributing templates or helping managing submissions. Part of the delay is due to the building of a new website which is close to completion. They are looking for our input for not only 3D printing templates but to also move into 3D image rendering. My NIH colleague is drafting a summary of the site plans and development options that I will post to the listserv next week. You are welcome to submit feedback to the options they present, or suggest new options. We plan to meet the end of March to move forward with implementation of the specific site design options.
