Hi All,
Thanks for all of your suggestions and ideas. I will be talking with the NIH group tomorrow to set up a Microscopy Tools collection on the NIH 3D Print Exchange. Once the area is set up I will post details on how to sign up for an account and how to upload your templates.
Thanks again for your patience!

Hi there list people

Did I miss where we are supposed to upload the files? We are happy to contribute with files for Nikon systems but I got the impression that the repository location was not finalised yet. If it is please let me know.

Med vänlig hälsning / Best regards

Hi Page et al., I've started to upload some of my stuff to the NIH repository - It has a labware section within which is a microscopy sub section. Uploading and editing the metadata is relatively painless - it only allows you to upload a limited number of file formats as the primary deposition, but also allows supplimentary files as well, where you can put the original 3D CAD files (like freeCAD) to allow others to tweak and improve / customise. I've put a few stage inserts for our IX81 system on so far.
Cheers,
Dave Johnston, Biomedical Imaging Unit, Southampton.

Hi Gary,
We had a few conference call meetings at the beginning of the year between myself, representatives of the Microscopy Society of America and the NIH 3D Print Exchange organizers and they were going to move forward creating a collection for Microscopy Tools once receiving a signed agreement from MSA that they would be responsible for curating the collection. Then COVID happened. The agreement was sent to the NIH 3D Print Exchange organizers but I have not received any response after numerous emails. My colleagues at NIH said I should keep trying to reach out to them.

During the M&M meeting in August we had a session dedicated to 3D Microscopy that had a very nice turn out with Kevin Eliceiri and Jeffrey Kuhn presenting excellent talks.  We want to continue to get the momentum going and welcome anyone who wants to help with moving the collection forward by either contributing templates or helping managing submissions. Feel free to respond or contact me offline ([hidden email]) if you are interested in helping.
Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm going to give this thread a bump. Has anyone heard anything in regards
to the NIH microscopy 3D print repository?

Have a nice day!

The NIH 3D Printing repository is a great resource.

I too would be very interested in seeing a formal collection that includes microscopy related designs and tools.

Hi All,
I contacted the organizers of the NIH 3D repository today to get an update and they are still very enthusiastic about starting a microscopy collection for us. Part of the delay is due to the building of a new website which is close to completion. They are looking for our input for not only 3D printing templates but to also move into 3D image rendering. My NIH colleague is drafting a summary of the site plans and development options that I will post to the listserv next week. You are welcome to submit feedback to the options they present, or suggest new options. We plan to meet the end of March to move forward with implementation of the specific site design options.

Thanks for hanging in there!

Hi all,

I'm going to give this thread a bump. Has anyone heard anything in regards to the NIH microscopy 3D print repository?

Have a nice day!
