Active silicon pheonix frame graber

Dear list members,

We have a old Hamamatsu camera (C4742-98-24NR) which was run by a
frame grabber on linux. Now, we are upgrading the system to Metamorph
in Windows XP. I use a pheonix frame graber (LVDS dig-36) from Active
Silicon. But the camera cannot be recognized. I tried the DCAM drivers
in different versions. Could anybody share the experience on this kind
of installation? Thanks a lot in advance.

Best regards,
sheng

Re: Active silicon pheonix frame graber

Perhaps an older version of the drivers will work.  It is possible that the
newer drivers no longer support the old camera.  Just an idea.

Hi Sheng,

This should work according to Hamamatsu's compatibility note here:

http://jp.hamamatsu.com/resources/products/sys/software/U8476/2010/05/3343/DCAM-API%20for%20Windows%20(May%202010)%20Compatibility%20Note.pdf

Try using the latest DCAM drivers from here:

http://www.dcamapi.com/

The other thing with the LVDS cameras is that it is essential to have the right cable (with the right RS422 lines connected) and the right jumper setting on the Phoenix card. If this is wrong it will result in exactly the symptoms you are describing. It is probably worth asking Hamamatsu directly which cable you need and which settings.

Cheers,

Steve

Re: Active silicon pheonix frame graber

Hi,

It is working now. On the card, there are two jumpers that have to be
set up properly. By the way, I am using the most updated DCAM (May,
2010). Thanks a lot for all your help.
