Keck Center for Cellular Imaging (KCCI), Department of Biology at the University of Virginia invites applications for a post-doctoral Research Associate position. The incumbent will be researching in Cellular S-nitrosothiol signaling in the respiratory system. The Research Associate will focus on investigating protein-protein interactions, development of cellular FRET assays using visible fluorescent proteins (VFPs), colocalization of proteins and calcium signaling in endothelial and epithelial cells. S/he will be responsible for the preparation of cells and cellular imaging using many experimental approaches including wide-field, confocal, multiphoton, TIRF and lifetime imaging microscopy systems. The research associate will be asked to participate in the operation and training of international participants attending the annual workshop on FRET microscopy. The research associate should have an interest/ability in interacting with multidisciplinary investigators involved in the Keck Center for Cellular Imaging. The completion of Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or a related discipline by appointment start date is required. Candidates with a background in cell transfection with visible fluorescent proteins or antibody labeling, FRET microscopy or related experience with microscopy techniques are preferred. Candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills.
