Dear all

The confocal simulator (http://olympus.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/java/confocalsimulator/index.html) used to be an excellent tool for teaching but recently it doesn't work. Any ideas as to how to get around the "Error processing SSI file" message that appears in Chrome or Explorer?

Are you using window 10?? This might be the problem

I also got an error using Firefox: "dye missing".

Works on IE 11 (version 11.0.9600.18426) and FireFox version 48.0.1 on a PC
with Java version 8 update 101.  Doesn't work on Chrome version 52 - gives
the "error processing SSI file" message (I didn't think it would given
Chrome's lack of support for Java).

There is another confocal simulator on the MyScope site, http://ammrf.org.au/myscope/

This was created by AMMRF, a consortium of Australian microscopy facilities.  Yes, I did have some input into it.

It works fine in the updated firefox (48) in both Win7 and Win10.  It might
be the Java app, though.  See if that is updated, and you have the
permissions properly set.
