We are all OK, I mean diasprolab and my family that are a ...a unique cluster in my mind. I hope you too. I am involved in remote teaching at the University with my Physics and Nanotech courses. I have to say that students are wonderful, they reacted in the the right way and they also helped me with the digital platform...more skilled than me in remote communication. They "raise their hands" for questions using the chat space in an educated way and they follow evrything with attention. I have to say, I miss thenm in terms of physical presence. Hopefully this situation will be over, soon. In my lab we are using digital platforms for scinetific meetings and we focus on reports, reading literature and refining our data analysis. Lets see a positive aspect of following the rules of "restate a casa" - "please, stay at home" - we have more time for thinlking. About Italy and other countries. I am proud of the fact that in Italy we reacted in a responsible way. I was surprised by Germany or France or USA... someone simply use dthe situation to have commercial (turism) attack to Italy...but the worst part is the following... I do not have data but lets assume that everything started from China...now I think that USa, Germany and France had/have ..order of magnitudes more contacts with China so... why they did not decalre anything until the last week? I think it is statistics... if we have contacts (commercial etc...) like 10 in a.u. and other have 10000 A.u. contacts the probability of hiuman intercations is higher and of infection dissemination too... there is something i do not understand. However, since tim e runs for everybody in the same way I expect our curve dropping down and others rising (simpley because they declare now what is going on). To conclude, with some emotion I thank all of you for asking. My heart now is with the Focus in Microscopy family. FOM had to start in Japan and, as you know, it has been cancelled. This is a matter of responsability and respect that the organizers had for the microscopy community. I hope we will have the chance to have a japanese FOM soon and, for sure, it will be a success. So a "thank you" written using capital letters for the organizers and the statement... see you soon. The microscopy community needs FOM and viceversa. We're also now remote teaching except for lab sections, and everyone seems to be very diligent about hand washing and monitoring their own health. Here's hoping for a minimal impact for everyone. You may well be right that the worst is still to come in other parts of the world and that we can learn from the way Italy has been and is confronting the crisis. Thanks for Alby’s kind words for FOM and the FOM family. It is very encouraging to hear the reactions on the unavoidable decision to cancel the Osaka conference. They have all been understanding and supportive and are a great motivation to keep on organizing the FOM conferences. Maybe next year not yet in Japan, but we hope to return there soon. Just like the FOM programs of earlier years, we will keep the FOM2020 Osaka program accessible on the Focusonmicroscopy.org website, as a record of the accepted but unfortunately not presented contributions in Osaka. So something tangible at least remains from the efforts of many in preparing their presentations and abstracts. So, on behalf of FOM and all the people who have made FOM what is by participating over the years and especially the Osaka organizers Katsumasa Fujita and Satoshi Kawata, thanks again for the support and till soon.
