Image acquisition software query

Hi
Just a quick question: What software packages do people use to acquire
images on your CCD cameras? I'm aware of Pro Plus but can't bring any others
to mind.
Thanks again in advance.

We use or have recently used:

OpenLabs [Improvision, Apple PC only, and no longer being actively developed
by Perkin Elmer]
Volocity [Improvision, Does have acquisition camera driver options and is
for both Apple or PC - also Perkin Elmer]
MetaMorph Acquisition [Molecular Devices]
IPLab [Scanalytics, now part of Becton Dickinson/BD BioScience]
AxioVision [Zeiss]
NIS-Elements [Nikon & Hammamatsu]
Kinetic Imaging [AQM/Cell Tracker - forgotten who owns them now]

ImageJ has a few acquisition drivers for free but never used them.

Re: Image acquisition software query

In reply to this post by Gareth Howell
Hi,

Depending on the imaging task...

Most microscope manufacturer sell their own software...

Microscopes:
2D Zeiss camera: Zeiss Axiovision (the Windows light version LE supports image acquisition
from simple TWAIN devices, like my webcam...), the full version works with our Zeiss
Axiocam camera.
Leica: LAS AF (3D)

For 2D fluorescence imaging:
DVC 1312c (www.dvcco.com) (with my Olympus IX microscope), comes with a nice software
package.

Regular video cameras/3D/stereoscopic imaging:

National Instruments IMAQ (NI framegrabber plus software)
Norpix Streampix (supports almost all cameras)
Matlab Imaging Acquisition Toolbox
Matrox Imaging Library (Matrox framegrabber plus software)
Stemmer Imaging (CommonVisionBlox for Dalsa/Coreco framegrabbers)

Personally I prefer Matlab. I only buy new cameras which work together with Matlab and/or
ImageJ (and linux drivers are always nice). I am still looking for a high quality c-mount colour
USB camera (which can be synchronized with other cameras) with TWAIN drivers... But no
funding for that right now :-(

Truly yours,

:-) Torsten

Part 2: Image acquisition software query

In reply to this post by PattyJansma
Dear List,

Another simple question on the acquisition.

Which image acquisition software (if not, then ... Let's be patient ...
Image Analysis software) is the most-user friendly, broad and flexible in
terms of image histogram analysis and display, with an exceptionally
"attractive" GUI interface!, including user-defined, multi-ROI background
subtraction - or highly accurate automatic background detection/subtraction,
manual and automatic thresholding, automatic means, stdev, st_error,
histogram export options and so on ...

I do not mention at this point 'subimage, subpixel image registration', but
it could be exciting to learn if there are some recent additions to image
analysis software(s) that include the latter option.

A little hint - zero point is OpenLab (primitive histograms, lengthy, time
consuming manual work), next, slightly better option is Volocity but a kind
of user-unfriendly and flexibility remains in "a sweet dream territory".

Very much thankful in advance,

Vitaly

Re: Image acquisition software query

In addition to Axiocams, I run a Hamamatsu ORCA-AG on Axiovision.  I
don't believe it has been mentioned yet, but I also run Q-Imaging
cameras under their free software, Q Capture and their relatively
inexpensive Q Capture Pro.
