ImageJ and Olympus Fluoview

Search the CONFOCAL archive at
http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is an ImageJ plug-in for opening Olympus
Fluoview images. I've looked on the ImageJ site, and I don't find
one. Am I missing it, or is there in fact no such plug-in? (I don't
find such capability in ImageJ itself. Again, is it not there, or
have I missed it?).

Thanks.

Phil

Phil,
you have 2 choices.
Simple non-plugin method is to save in the oif format (each channel is
a series of 16-bit tiff) and use File/Import/Image Sequence to bring
each channel.
Plugin approach is to use the LOCI plug in which opens both OIF and
OIB formats with many options such as separate channels, channel
merge, selected series.....

The box said "Requires WindowsXP or better", so I bought a Macintosh.

ImageJ should open Fluoview files without any plugin

There certainly is a plug-in.  They just don't have it described as
"Fluoview."
It is the UCSD Confocal Microscopy Plug-ins under the collections heading.

Quick heads up for you: all of the pictures you open from the fluoview
must be done under the plug-in.  If it shows up in black and white (it
more than likely will) go back to the plug-in with the picture still
open and select color display.
