ImageJ scale bar

I am having trouble changing the color of the scale bar in ImageJ. The menu gives me options for color but does not seem to work. I can not select the scale bar and use the color picker because the scale bar can not be selected as an object.  Any suggestions?

Probably your image has to be RGB

Are you sure that your image is RGB?  You can't change the color of the
scale bar in an 8-bit image.

Are you sure that your image is RGB?  You can't change the color of the
