Hi everybody,

Has anyone ever expressed a fluorescent protein emitting in the Far-Red in C. elegans?

Many thanks in advance for your help and very best regards,

Laurent.

Hi Laurent,

I can't help you with the C. elegans part (there, I have only expressed eGFP & eYFP), but in mouse & rat brain tissue we have had significant success using mNeptune2 and mCardinal. Both were comparatively stable & bright, even when using STED microscopy. (Still no comparison to FPs in the green, though.)
mKate2 and Tag-RFP worked quite well, too.

Sorry that is all I can contribute!

Nicolai

Hi Laurent,

We are using mNeptune expressing pan-neuronally in C. elegans,
Will that be useful?

Best

We've successfully used iRFP670 in crickets and zebrafish.  It's not super
bright, but was fine to mark nuclei in an H2B fusion.
