I am looking for one to perform experiments in living systems, and am focusing on searching for a system which could deliver at least around the following specifications : -1W maximum average power (or more) -200 fs long pulses (or less) -~ 50 MHz repetition rate -~ 1000 nm wavelength (+-100nm) -preferrably air cooled - preferrably of small form factor (width and depth around an A4 size, for example) With this in mind, would you recommend any specific company /laser model? We have used the OneFive (now owned by NKT) Origami, and we were very happy with the performance for tissue imaging. They're small, air cooled and very stable. They will also customize the rep rate. Without amplification you would be limited to a few hundred milliwatts at most, so to get 1W, you are looking at an amplified system which is more expensive and a bit larger. There are a lot of vendors though, so it is worth shopping around. You can look here: http://www.toptica.com/fileadmin/Editors_English/11_brochures_datasheets/ toptica_BR_Ultrafast_Fiber_Lasers.pdf to see what's available... Some directly diode pumped Ti:S lasers are appearing on the market, viz: https://kmlabs.com/product/stryde-blue-direct-diode-pumped-ultrafast- tisapphire-oscillator/ These should be more robust than the good old 532nm-pumped ones, but the power is lower and they cannot reach 1000 nm yet...
