What is your experience with Jobs software module that Nikon offers? we are thinking of using it with a widefield microscope.

We've been using JOBS on a Nikon wide-field system for a year or so now.  The more I use it, the more impressed I am.  It has a very user-friendly interface, a huge amount of functionality and is generally stable.   It allows you to convert your Nikon microscope into what is essentially a high content imaging device, integrating complex image capture routines with analysis which can then be used to direct further image acquisition if required.  It wouldn't necessarily replace an HCS system, but it has more functionality than many bespoke HC imagers.  I recently added JOBS to our A1 confocal to enable some of the functionality that we were using on the wide-field system on that platform.

I had the chance to use JOBS during my PhD. It is possible to create
arbitrary procedures in a really easy way (users only need to be
familiar with simple programming concepts). My opinion about JOBS is
positive.

Work a charm for us. We love imaging fast a large area in multiwell plates, analysing to find cells or regions of interest and revisiting these points to re image with a z stack, at higher res and more channels for example.

As a Nikon Center of Excellence we have a growing fan base of JOBS from basic automation to fairly sophisticated multi-pass imaging based on analysis criteria especially on our A1R confocal and Ti widefield scopes. We have numerous satisfied users.

There is also a growing interest in creating shareable libraries of experiments to help streamline the adoption of the JOBS workflow for new users. Hopefully that will help novice users learn the workflow faster.

I use it almost daily to automate slide and multi-well scanning in our
facility. It's great but requires some time to learn (faster to learn and
use than e.g. python but you can hit the ceiling a bit earlier (though you
can combine with macros)). There are a few limitations (e.g. size and
saving of initial scan), but it is quite powerful and flexible. Most of our
users (mainly bio or medical) dont learn it, but you can make e.g. wizards
for their JOB.

I'm a fan and would recommend it. You can contact me off list if needed,

Hi all,

We have just purchased JOBS and so far pretty impressed.  I wonder if a JOBS user forum or email list exists where you could ask advice from the JOBS user community?  We have had good support from Nikon so far but the people learning the most about what it can do are probably the facility staff/users who have time to sit on the microscopes.  Might be nice if this was official and could be created and administered by Nikon, I may ask our local reps about this.

Apologies for the late response to this thread. I was given a walkthrough this week for JOBS, and I'm certainly impressed with the flexibility and potential.

While I understood the basics of building recipes (as they call them), I am looking for more instruction. Do any of the labs using JOBS have anything to offer along these lines? Our core images everything that walks through the door, so simple set-ups will not quite fit the bill. Anything will be helpful as we begin writing an in-house tutorial.

Work a charm for us. We love imaging fast a large area in multiwell plates, analysing to find cells or regions of interest and revisiting these points to re image with a z stack, at higher res and more channels for example.

What is your experience with Jobs software module that Nikon offers? we are thinking of using it with a widefield microscope.
On a paper it looks really promising, so I wonder what are the experiences of real  users?

Nothing about Jobs itself but a little video to get people started with General Analysis which is part of jobs.

Jobs realizes its full potential when several layers of acquisition /analysis /re acquisition are embedded in the pipeline.

The design of GA has changed in NIS 5 but the principles remain.

There are a few more videos, some about microscopy in general and some about NIS.boîte you will find them useful.

Apologies for the late response to this thread. I was given a walkthrough this week for JOBS, and I'm certainly impressed with the flexibility and potential.

While I understood the basics of building recipes (as they call them), I am looking for more instruction. Do any of the labs using JOBS have anything to offer along these lines? Our core images everything that walks through the door, so simple set-ups will not quite fit the bill. Anything will be helpful as we begin writing an in-house tutorial.
