LZW compression

Hi all,

We're submitting some images for publication, and Scholar1 recommends we compress the files using LZW compression on our TIFF files.

Could anyone comment on this compression method, and if it will degrade the image quality significantly?

Thanks!

Cathy

LZW compression should be lossless, and therefore should not change the underlying data.

LZW is lossless, unlike (for instance) JPEG compression.  You should be
fine.

Good luck!

LZW is lossless in theory, but we've had several corrupted files when using
it with Metamorph, so I would always keep an uncompressed TIF copy.

Cheers,
