NIR lamp source

Does anyone know of a good lamp for fluorescence microscopy that covers
visible and near infrared (up to 750 nm)? Or alternatively a lamp that could
be used in the range 600 up to 750?
Checked Sutter and Exfo but they die pretty quickly at around 600
Thansk for any suggestion

AW: NIR lamp source

Why don't you try the good old Halogen lamp? Its spectrum in the IR is pretty good, better than most arc lamps. If you take out the heat filter (which is what removes the strong IR part of the spectrum), you will have plenty of IR. You can check out the spectrum here: http://zeiss-campus.magnet.fsu.edu/articles/lightsources/tungstenhalogen.html

Markus

Re: AW: NIR lamp source

Dear Markus
thanks a lot for your comment. I've checked before and there is a good amount of signal at 750 with one of our halogen. I was going to try a led too. I'll see what will work better
thanks again
