We have been using the Minicircuits ZFL series, but reliability seems poor. We keep having to replace them, and after discussions with their tech support, we haven't found anything wrong on our end (voltages, signal levels, etc are all within spec). Mike |

An alternative, if you don't need linear amplification, might be a high speed comparator? HTH Mark B. Cannell. You can check with them. For 80MHz clock, we are using these ISS amplifiers and CFD 6915 for many years and no issues so far. Just remember that some photodiode bias circuits depend upon the load (the amplifier) to provide a low-impedance DC path to ground, while many off-the- shelf amplifiers are AC-coupled! It is possible the attenuator wasn't providing a low enough path to ground and was passing some DC voltage which was damaging the amps. I've added a bias T with a resistor on the DC port. I'll see if this works better.
