I once saw a fabulous preparation of dried salami, sliced with a microtome
and stained with standard H&E. It was done for a pathology course and the
muscle and fat tissue were very well preserved. Of course the objective was
to identify the tissue, and the confounding factor was bits of plant
material (onion and garlic) mixed in. Might be more complicated than what
you are looking for, though.

Hi!
Perhaps you could cut thin slices of meat or spread some banana (or any
other
fruit or veg) on a slide?
You could of course also leave some food out of the fridge and look at
beautiful
fungi.. :)
